When you are in a relationship, you want your partner to treat you with love and respect and to support you as much as you support them. When you feel this from them, you will feel that your relationship is strong and stable.

This is important when you feel that your life is out of control and when you feel that you need to have energies that are working in your favor. Whenever you begin to feel ungrounded, you need to figure out how to center yourself.

Sometimes you can center yourself by thinking about things that bring you peace and joy or you can close your eyes and meditate.

Staying grounded can help you to deal with challenges that you have to face. If you are having a fight with your partner and you are grounded, you can help to not get too emotional. This can make it easier for you to be able to communicate with your partner.

How to Ground Yourself

Here are some ways that you can ground yourself and stay grounded:

  • Be calm. Do this when things get tense.
  • Focus on being clam and not misinterpreting things.
  • Be mindful of what you are feeling and what emotions you have.
  • Keep patient. When you are getting overly emotional, stay patient until you feel grounded.
  • Be thankful. Being thankful can help you to have peace and calmness. Be thankful for the partnership that you have with your partner and what good things they give you.

Grounding Exercises

Here are some grounding exercises that you can do to be calm and collected. One of the exercises is the 4, 7, 8 method. This one is when you take 4 beaths so that you can be more mindful. Here is how it works:

  • Exhale through your mouth.
  • Inhale quietly through your nose and count to 4.
  • Hold your breath for 7 seconds.
  • Exhale through your mouth and count to 8.
  • Do this 3 more times.

When you do this, try playing white noise and it is a time that you can have a conversation with your partner. Even if you are talking about something hard, do this calmly and keep your cool.

Looking at the Soul

When you want to feel that you are connected with your partner, you can try soul gazing. This is a way that you can be grounded. Here are some things that you can do:

  • Get your partner to do this with you and take one minute to stretch. Let your spine and the other parts of your body stretch and then relax.
  • Before you sit, say, “Namaste.” This means to have honors and divinity inside of you.
  • Sit with your partner and kneel or cross your legs. Face each other.
  • Focus on your breathing and close your eyes. Deep breath in and out.
  • Keep your eyes closed and squeeze your partners hand. Wait for your partner to respond and then open your eyes slowly.
  • Look into your partners left eye which is the feminine side according to tradition. This lets energy come in.
  • Let the distractions leave. Deep breathe and feel a connection with your partner.
  • Be still and quiet your mind. Let blockages leave you.
  • Notice how you are breathing and try to match it with your partners breathing. This can charge your life force.
  • Keep gazing at each other for 5 minutes. Finish by saying, “Namaste.”

Keeping a Connection

Being in a relationship should be something great. You should learn to be grounded together to keep your connection strong. This will help you to grow together and to have love for each other that is stronger than ever.
